A Birl is a newish gender identity term, it's both a Boy and a Girl. It's a person that is Sexed either Male or Female, but identifies as neither, but identifies as both a boy and a girl from a gender perspective.
No, only in 'western' society, in the far east(china/japan) this is nothing new,and for the Native Americans, this is also nothing new.

I'm not talking about Sex. Sex is Male or Female, tho in rare cases a newborn might have parts of both sexes. Sex is: Does a person have a penis or a vagina?. That's not what we are talking about here.
For instance a Male might identify as a Female(but still be sexed male). This would be a TG(Transgendered) person. They feel compelled to convert into being a complete Female, and they have no 'boy' gender identity.. They then would have hormone supplements, and would probably cross-dress, and perhaps change their genetalia to that of a Female. Or the other way around with a Female that identifies as a Male.. Tho the surgery and hormones I understand are much much harder to accomplish.
Ok, you've met girls that have definite boy(male) tendencies, they like to play football, and are very 'boyish', think 'tomboy'.. but this is perhaps a bit more than just being a tomboy. This is not something you grow out of, but grow into.
Or from the Male perspective, it's a Male that has a definite feminine side. They still have a boy side, but also have a girl side, and don't want to have this conflicting personality problem, and just want to be themselves.
Sexuality is a totally different thing. Attraction to Males or Females, and being Homosexual, or not (i.e. a Gay or a Lesbian) has nothing to do with being a birl or not being a birl. Or perhaps your sexuality is Bi-sexual (attracted to both Males and Females).
